Method Development for Material Specification

Client

Cannot disclose due to confidentiality agreement.

Challenge

The client had a product application where the material performance requirements were not known and a specification to evaluate candidate materials needed to be developed.

The client needed to be the first to market with their product to receive the greatest financial gains. Regulatory approval is difficult so it is very important to identify the right materials the first time.

Solution

Aspen developed a list of physical attributes the material should have to work in the proposed application. From this list, Aspen identified methods for measuring candidate materials. Using statistical analysis the test methods were evaluated for their ability to produce useful information and the level of difficulty to perform them. The results were compiled and a specification developed for the client.

The client was able to use Aspen's experiences using statistical analysis, material science and in performing and developing test methods. For the client to develop an adequate skill set to perform the same evaluation would have prevented the client from being the first to enter the market.
