Raw Material Issue Problem Solving

Challenge

The client is purchasing a polyurethane from multiple sources and all suppliers are meeting the specifications, yet they are experiences a significant failure rate.

What physical and/or chemical property is contributing to the failure? The suppliers have not been able to identify anything. Can I get one-stop service to identify and solve the problem?

Solution

Aspen developed a list of physical attributes the material should have to work in the proposed application. From this list, Aspen identified methods for measuring the incoming materials. Some were already on the existing material specifications. Using statistical analysis the test methods were evaluated for their ability to produce useful information. The results were compiled and a quality control program put into place with Aspen performing the QC function and tracking trends.

The client was able to use Aspen's experiences using material science, developing test methods and performing those test methods. Using Aspen also provided the client with a variable cost to their operation so they only paid for the QC service they needed.
